In this day and age humor should be used with a sense of boundaries. Everyone these days seems to be offended over just about anything so use discretion in your humor.
Humor can be used for many things. It can help when used in a self deprecating way at times. Also people use humor when they are insecure and seek approval. This isn’t always good. Don’t use humor at someone else’s expense. And don’t let humor that you might use make others feel less about themselves and you feel superior. Thats unhealthy.
You may have heard the term “know your audience:. Not everyone is ready for your humor and not everyone will find your humor funny and may well be offended by what you are saying. Set some boundaries for yourself as to when to use humor and know who you are dealing with. If your humor seems a little out of place at times a counseling session might help you set this into a positive place.
